Trauma Therapy

What Happened to You Matters

Trauma isn't just what happened. It's what happened inside you in response to something overwhelming — and it has a way of showing up long after the event itself is over. In your body. In your relationships. In the way you move through the world.

You don't have to keep carrying it alone.

We offer trauma therapy via telehealth across New York and New Jersey.

What Is Trauma?

Trauma is the lasting emotional, psychological, and physical response to an experience — or series of experiences — that felt overwhelming, threatening, or deeply painful. It's not about what happened being "bad enough." It's about what the experience did to your nervous system, your sense of safety, and your relationship with yourself and others.

Trauma can look like:

• A single overwhelming event — an accident, assault, or sudden loss

• Childhood trauma — neglect, abuse, or growing up in an unpredictable environment

• Relational trauma — emotional abuse, betrayal, or toxic relationships

• Complex trauma (C-PTSD) — repeated or prolonged traumatic experiences

• Medical trauma — difficult diagnoses, procedures, or health crises

• Intergenerational trauma — patterns passed down through families

• Collective or cultural trauma — discrimination, racism, or community violence

You don't need a diagnosis to seek support. If something happened that still affects how you feel, think, or relate to others — that's enough.

Does this resonate with you…

• You find yourself reliving experiences through flashbacks, nightmares, or intrusive memories

• You feel on edge, hypervigilant, or like something bad is always about to happen

• You go numb or shut down when things get emotionally intense

• You struggle to trust people — even people who haven't hurt you

• You feel disconnected from your body or like you're watching your life from a distance

• Your relationships keep following painful patterns you can't seem to break

• You startle easily or react intensely to things that others seem unbothered by

• You carry shame or self-blame about things that were never your fault

• Something happened a long time ago — but it still feels present

Trauma responses are not character flaws. They are your nervous system's attempt to protect you. And with the right support, they can change.

Our Approach to Trauma Therapy

Trauma-Informed Always

Everything we do is grounded in trauma-informed principles — which means safety comes first, always. We never push you to go faster than feels right. We pace the work around your nervous system's capacity, not a predetermined timeline.

Somatic and Body-Based Healing

Trauma lives in the body — and talk therapy alone sometimes can't reach it. We use somatic therapy to help your nervous system process and release what's been held there, restoring a felt sense of safety.

EMDR-Informed Processing

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is one of the most evidence-based approaches to trauma treatment available. Our therapists incorporate EMDR-informed techniques to help you process and integrate traumatic memories so they lose their emotional charge.

Attachment-Based Work

Many trauma responses are rooted in early relational experiences. We explore these roots with compassion and curiosity — understanding how past relationships shaped your nervous system and helping you build more secure ways of connecting.

Holistic and Integrative

We don't use a single approach. We weave together a variety of modalities — tailored specifically to you, your history, and your pace.

Just as Effective Online

Trauma therapy via telehealth is just as effective as in-person therapy. For many clients attending from their own safe, familiar environment actually makes it easier to do deep work. Available across New York and New Jersey.
