Family Therapy
When One Person Hurts, the Whole Family Feels It
Families are complicated — and beautiful, and messy, and deeply important. Family therapy creates a space where everyone can be heard, understood, and supported together.
At Peace of Mind Therapy we work with families of all shapes and sizes. We also do any combination of family members — children and parent(s), siblings — via telehealth across New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut.
Family Therapy’s right for you if…
- Communication has broken down and conversations always end in conflict
- A family member is struggling and it's affecting everyone
- You're navigating a major transition — divorce, remarriage, loss, or a new addition
- Parent-child relationships feel strained or disconnected
- Siblings are in ongoing conflict
- You're a blended family navigating new dynamics
- You want to strengthen your family bonds before things get harder
- You've tried talking it out on your own — and it's not working

Our Approach to
Family Therapy
-
We look at the family as a whole system — not just individual members. Patterns, roles, and dynamics that develop within families often become self-reinforcing. Family therapy helps the whole system shift, not just one person.
-
Every person in the family deserves to feel heard — including the ones who are hardest to hear. We create a space where all voices matter and no one is blamed or scapegoated.
-
We work with your family — not on it. Sessions are active, engaged, and purposeful. We'll help facilitate conversations that feel impossible at home and give your family real tools to use between sessions.
-
Not every family member needs to attend every session. We work with whatever configuration makes sense — full family, parents only, parent and child, or siblings. We'll figure out the right structure together.
-
Family therapy via telehealth is just as effective as in-person — and often more convenient when coordinating multiple family members' schedules. All sessions are held via secure video across New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut.
