Autism & Neurodivergent Therapy

You Deserve a Therapist Who Actually Gets It.

Therapy for autistic people has too often focused on changing them — making them appear more neurotypical, masking more effectively, or fitting into a world that wasn't designed with them in mind. We don’t agree with that, and that's not what we do here.

At Peace of Mind Therapy we approach autism with genuine curiosity, deep respect, and a fundamental belief that neurodivergent minds are not broken — they're different. And different is not less. In fact, they’re special.

We offer affirming, neurodiversity-informed therapy for autistic clients and individuals on the spectrum via telehealth across New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut.

Our Philosophy — Affirming, Not Fixing

We are a neurodiversity-affirming practice. This means we start from the belief that autism is a natural variation in human neurology — not a disorder to be cured or a set of deficits to be corrected.

Our goal is never to make you appear more neurotypical.
Our goal is to help you:

• Understand yourself more deeply
• Build a life that works for how your brain actually functions
• Develop strategies for navigating a world that wasn't built for you
• Process the impact of masking, burnout, and being misunderstood
• Build relationships and communication on your own terms
• Advocate for yourself with confidence and clarity

We work with autistic children, adolescents, and adults — as well as parents and families navigating autism together.

Does this resonate with you…

You’re looking for a therapist who understands what it feels like when —

• You've always felt different — like everyone else got a manual for how to be human that you never received

• Social interactions feel exhausting — you have to consciously think through things that seem to come naturally to others

• You've spent years masking — performing a version of yourself that fits in — and you're burnt out

• Sensory experiences feel more intense than they seem to for other people

• You have deep, passionate interests that bring you enormous joy

• Change, unpredictability, or transitions feel genuinely distressing

• You've been called "too sensitive," "too intense," or "too much"

• You were recently diagnosed — or you suspect you might be autistic and are trying to understand yourself

• You've experienced significant anxiety, depression, or burnout as a result of navigating a neurotypical world

• You want a therapist who won't try to change who you are
