OCD Therapy

That Thought Doesn't Define You.

OCD is one of the most exhausting and misunderstood mental health conditions there is. It's not about being neat or organized. It's not a quirky personality trait. It's an exhausting cycle of unwanted thoughts and compulsive behaviors that can take over your life and make you feel deeply ashamed of thoughts you never asked to have.

Here's what we want you to know: those thoughts are not who you are. And real relief is possible.

We offer OCD and intrusive thoughts therapy via telehealth across New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut.

What Is OCD — Really?

OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) is a condition characterized by unwanted, intrusive thoughts (obsessions) and repetitive behaviors or mental acts (compulsions) that a person feels driven to perform in response to those thoughts.

The cycle works like this: an intrusive thought appears → it causes intense anxiety or distress → you perform a compulsion to relieve that distress → the relief is temporary → the thought comes back, often stronger.

OCD can look very different from person to person. Common presentations include:

Contamination OCD — fear of germs, illness, or contamination
Harm OCD — intrusive thoughts about harming yourself or others
Religious or Moral OCD — fear of sinning, blasphemy, or being a bad person
Relationship OCD (ROCD) — obsessive doubts about relationships or partners
Pure O — intrusive thoughts without visible compulsions (though mental compulsions are present)
Health Anxiety OCD — obsessive fear of illness or disease
Symmetry and Order OCD — need for things to feel "just right"
Existential OCD — obsessive questioning about life, reality, and meaning
